At Christmas, the weasels got a Gamecube as a present
they love it, for the most part.
There are of course the moments of frustration when they are playing a game and they have a hard time to get past a certain level, and they get stuck because it is not as easy as they want /think it should be.
Cleverwife and I are not very big fans of the games with blood and violence, Cleverwife is especially not a fan of the games that glorify war in any aspect.
I like the games that have a storyline that you follow and get past certain levels/villians when certain tasks and or skills are achieved.
Cleverwife has her own game for the Cube Crash nitrokart
She enjoys playing this racing game and as of late is generally kicking my butt at it.
However her playing the game and beating me is not the fun part.
Her playing of the game is
You do not have to move the controller to play the game, only to manipulate the buttons and little joystick thingy in order to race.
Be that as it may Cleverwife throws her whole body into playing it, if she id turning a corner on the game, then her arms will swing out in the direction for the turn, so much so that she presents a hazard to those around her. I am sure that when the kitten sees her head for the game cube, he beats a retreat for safer climates in the house.
Also, she likes to play this at night, in bed, and the whole bed shakes so violently that i am scared I am going to fall out.

Weekends
Ah weekends
I remember a time when weekends were made to relax and enjoy life.
When the kids were younger and even before they were born , Cleverwife and I had leisurely weekends.
not much running around. casual shopping etec.
That's gone
Hockey basketball and rushing around like crazy people now seem to occupy our time
This weekend , the youngest weasel had hockey on Saturday. not just hockey , but pictures too.
so that meant getting him up and ready early enough to make sure that his hair was not going to be the usual rats nest for the pictures.
after hockey, there was just enough time to run around doing housework, (yeah laundry) and then rush out to the other side of town so he could go to a birthday party. After we got lost, we arrived there (late , again!)
and dropped him off. Weasels #1 and #2 and CLeverwife and I went and did a little shopping. We decided as well to get a little snack. the snack places. Interac machine was not working, but we could pay at customer service. which I did after waiting in line longer than I thought i should have to, because some people are sure that they have exact change, somewhere in the basement of their purse, which is the size of a small siutcase.
why do people insist on doing this, even if there is a line up of people behind them?
not that I had any pressing engagements, but if people are waiting, that is not the time to do that.
finally, I got to have my coffee, and lo and behold it sucked, why is it like that, you wait for something that you want, and it turns out to be miserable, and you end up not wanting it any way.
when we rushed back to pick youngest weasel up, he wasn't ready anyway so we could have not rushed, and had a more relaxing time.
On the plus side, the oldest really seems to have taken a shine to the archery, so hopefully this will help with everything else in some way. the Boys are rebelling at me more, because after years of having me waffle when it comes to having consequences for their rule-breaking, i am finally enforcing the consequences. which they do not like.
I'm hoping the "I hate you" comments peter out quickly.
Also. why is it that when they are ready to leave for school 1/2 an hour before it is time to go, they will only remember something that they need as everyone else is in the car? (this is aimed at you #2 weasel). to combat this Cleverwife has proposed that we insist that the school backpacks be ready the night before.
hopefully this will work too.

Snow
As i am writing this, there is snow coming down in rapid amounts and possibly the largest snowflakes I have ever seen.
Cleverwife has informed me that the weasels are outside, and have been out there most of the morning, tired, wet and happy.
Oldest boy has started archery, and seems to really enjoy it, he is focussed, calm and intent when he is doing it, so maybe there will be positive results in his outside life (read school) from this
Life is slowly getting organized, the weasels are on chore charts, and bedtime routines and morning routines so that we can actually get organized, heaven forbid!
My Thanks to Helen and Julie who posted comments here the other day and their advice was welcome, and we are going to try it.
The boys were happy to not have to go to school today, Cleverwife says she enjoys having them home, but I think from the phone call that they are getting on her nerves.
hopefully by the time i get home they will be tired and ready to have a quiet night.
Cheers

Monday
This past weekend was not the best of times.
on a plus note, the youngest weasel had no hockey, so there was no early risings.
on the downside, the 3 weasels have been acting pretty poorly lately,
so the rules are coming down again , in a clear more defined fashion. hopefully this helps.
I threatened the boys with Nanny 911 this weekend.
the youngest weasel said I'll just lock the door on her.
That seems to be the basic problem, they just do not seem to care.
Cleverwife and I have explained to them that if they helped out, listened, and went to bed better, there would be more time to do "fun " things with them.
this seems to haveno effect on them .
The oldest still hates school, still hates where we are, still hates just about everything.
Middle one is still in constant competition with the youngest.
Youingest just wont go to bed EVER.
any ideas, advice, help.
I know i missed delurking week, so if anyone reads this HELP!

Sorry
Sorry,
I have not posted in a while, busy busy busy,
the holidays are over, the tree is down, the new year has started, and all is good.
I hope that all of you are well, and the new year is good to you.
As for myself I am glad 2006 is done. Not a good year.
I'm hoping the next one will be better.
The boys are back at school and life should(ha) settle back into normal.
Next up is the visit from my sister(long awaited), and the painting of the living room.
If i can figure it out, i'll post photos, if not you'll have to picture it in your mind
Cheers
